Richard Liu is a Chinese internet capitalist and the creator of JD.com or Jingdong Mall, one of China’s largest e-commerce companies. He was born on March 10, 1973, in Suqian. He graduated from the University of China with a sociology degree in 1996. Still, he spent most of his time seeking knowledge in computer programming, interested in increasing the new internet’s possibilities.
Richard Liu is considered as among the top entrepreneurs in the e-commerce industry. After launching his first online retail website sometime in 2004, he founded his JD.com only a year later.
Liu received his EMBA at China Europe Int’l School of Business. Qiangdong has achieved spectacular fortune and success, having dedicated his life to changing a series of electronic stores into an online marketplace, with JD.com becoming one of the world’s most popular e-commerce sites. JD.com’s stock price continues to rise due to worldwide relationships with industry titans like Walmart and Google.
In 1998, he founded Jingdong, a Beijing-based company selling magneto-optical goods such as CD ROMs. His businesses rapidly expanded until 2003, with 12 locations in Beijing and Shanghai.
