The Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund -advocates for organizations who offer support for immigration and civil rights. Lacey and Larkin are humanitarians who were arrested by Sheriff Joe Arpaio in 2007 for printing stories about the department’s unfair practices. The two men were granted an award $3.75 million and they took this money and created the Frontera Fund.
The Frontera Fund focuses on helping those who speak out for equal rights and treatment of migrants and other minority groups. The Fund has expanded beyond their home state of Arizona, to assist other states as they deal with the pressing issue of the backload of cases with immigrants in jail.
This amount of cases has a troubling effect on immigrants and their families as they wait for their trials.
