Robert Ivy: Explaining The Importance Of Architects

Architects have been around for centuries. They helped civilizations in creating massive structures that defined their glory. Through the years, the role of architects for the advancement of society became more noticeable. Megastructures have become possible thanks to the architects who have been using their minds in creating new ideas. They have been teaming up with engineers to create what was once thought as impossible. Architecture is one of the finest and most important professions in the United States today, and it is no doubt that they helped the country become one of the superpowers of today.

The American Institute of Architects serves as the main organization for the architects who are practicing in the United States. The group was founded in 1857 by a group of 13 professionals who have documents proving that they studied the profession. It came into their knowledge that several people from Europe and other parts of the world are entering the United States illegally. They declare to the immigration officers that they are architects, when in fact, they are not.

During the 19th century, the United States has published an advertisement shown around the world, inviting professionals to settle in the new world and enjoy the benefits that will be given by the government of the United States. To be eligible for these benefits, people from Europe and other parts of the world are posing as architects, showing fake documents to the immigration officers. After knowing these threats, the group of architects created the American Institute of Architects to prevent any other fake architects from entering the country. They also moved the headquarters of the group to Washington D.C. They are also the ones who have signed the rules of the organization, stating that the leader of the American Institute of Architects should have an impressive background and should be worthy of the position.

In 2011, the organization selected Robert Ivy to become the next leader of the American Institute of Architects. He has an impressive background, being a cum laude from his BA in English class back at the Sewanee: The University of the South. He also endured several years at the Tulane University being an architect, and because of his skills and expertise, he was chosen to become an editor in chief at a newsletter publishing company. Robert Ivy can also be considered as a role model for architects, showing some of their basic characteristics among the public.
